Founded by award-winning science teacher and filmmaker Ranw Aso-Rashid (b. 1993), AR Studios builds on his years of work providing nearly 150 underrepresented students with paid roles, mentorship, and hands-on experience across two continents. In 2025, Ranw Aso-Rashid was therefore awarded the prestigious MYM Impact Award.
The studio’s films have earned BIFA qualification, awards and nominations at BAFTA-and BIFA-qualifying festivals, and secured streaming releases on Amazon Prime (ShortsTV), MYM Media, and Minute Shorts.
AR Studios’ 2026 slate currently spans three active productions across UK, Europe and the Middle East. Its debut feature documentary, The Lost Photography of Kurdistan, is executive produced by BAFTA nominee Clare Richards, while the slate also includes the groundbreaking sci-fi film and series Project Helios in partnership with Epic Studios.
The company is expanding globally in partnership with TV executive producer Jon Willers (Warner Bros., BBC Studios) and founder of The Development Network.
