PRINTS

PURCHASE TERMS, CANCELLATION & AUTHENTICITY

Effective date: 01 October 2026

Prints is a private, invitation-only photographic archive curated by Ranw Aso-Rashid and presented by AR Studios.

Selected photographic works from the archive are made available as strictly limited physical editions.

These Purchase Terms govern the acquisition, production, delivery, ownership, provenance, cancellation, return, authentication and protection of Prints physical editions purchased through AR Studios.

By placing an order, the purchaser acknowledges that they have read and understood these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any consumer right or remedy which cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

1. The Nature of a Prints Acquisition

Prints acquisition is the purchase of an authorised physical photographic impression from a strictly limited edition.

Each selected portrait is produced from an authorised archival master and forms part of the permanent Prints archive.

The physical impression, its edition status and its accompanying documentation are treated as distinct elements of the archive's provenance record.

The purchaser acquires the physical artwork specified in their order.

The purchaser does not acquire copyright or ownership of the underlying photographic work unless expressly agreed otherwise in a separate written agreement signed by the applicable rights holder.

2. Limited Edition

Each Prints edition is strictly limited to ten authorised impressions across all sizes.

The authorised edition is permanently closed once the ten authorised impressions have been produced.

No additional impressions will subsequently be produced under that edition.

This applies regardless of:

  • demand;

  • market value;

  • institutional interest;

  • patronage;

  • the identity or status of a prospective purchaser; or

  • any subsequent increase in the value or reputation of the work.

No purchaser is entitled to require, request or commission an additional impression once the authorised edition has been closed.

The edition limit applies to the photographic work itself and is not increased by subsequent changes in ownership.

3. Physical Ownership and Intellectual Property

Upon valid completion of the sale and delivery, the purchaser owns the physical impression identified in their acquisition documentation.

This ownership does not transfer:

  • copyright;

  • reproduction rights;

  • publication rights;

  • commercial licensing rights;

  • merchandising rights;

  • adaptation rights;

  • derivative-work rights;

  • digital reproduction rights; or

  • any other intellectual-property rights in the underlying photograph.

The purchaser may display the physical work privately and may otherwise deal with the physical object as permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in the purchase of a physical impression constitutes a transfer of intellectual property.

4. Certificate of Authenticity

Each authorised impression is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity ("COA") forming part of the work's permanent documentation.

The COA identifies and documents the relevant work and its authorised edition status.

The purchaser should retain the COA securely and preserve it with the work's permanent records.

4.1 No Routine Reissue

AR Studios does not undertake to replace or reissue a lost, destroyed, damaged or misplaced original COA.

The purchaser is therefore responsible for maintaining the COA securely.

Where appropriate, AR Studios may retain internal records concerning the original documentation. Such records remain confidential archive records and are not themselves transferable documentation.

4.2 Authenticity

The existence of a document described as a Prints COA does not, by itself, establish authenticity.

Authentication may require consideration of the physical work, provenance and the archive's internal records.

AR Studios is not required to disclose confidential security features, authentication procedures, internal records or other proprietary information used to assess authenticity.

5. Provenance

Each authorised impression forms part of the Prints provenance system.

AR Studios may maintain confidential internal records relating to:

  • the photographic work;

  • edition status;

  • impression history;

  • production;

  • documentation;

  • dispatch;

  • purchaser information;

  • subsequent ownership information where provided;

  • authentication enquiries; and

  • other matters reasonably necessary to establish provenance.

These records are maintained for archival, administrative, authentication, fraud-prevention and rights-management purposes.

Internal provenance records are not public documents and do not automatically become available to purchasers or third parties.

6. Production

Each physical work is produced through the archive's authorised production process.

The production process may involve specialist photographic printing, edition documentation, presentation and secure packaging.

The exact production and authentication procedures used by AR Studios may be amended from time to time.

AR Studios does not publish its complete internal security, authentication or anti-counterfeiting methodology.

This is intentional and forms part of the archive's protection against forgery, counterfeit documentation, fraudulent claims and other misuse.

7. Estimated Production and Delivery

Each work is individually produced and prepared for collection or delivery.

Unless a different timeframe is expressly stated on the product page or agreed in writing, the estimated production and preparation period is approximately 4–6 weeks from acquisition.

This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date.

Where circumstances materially affect the anticipated timetable, AR Studios will communicate with the purchaser as reasonably appropriate.

Delivery will be separately notified when the work leaves the authorised delivery process.

8. Secure Delivery

Where delivery is arranged by AR Studios, the work may be transported using an appropriate insured and trackable delivery service.

The purchaser will receive dispatch information and tracking details where available.

The purchaser should inspect the external packaging promptly following delivery.

Where apparent transit damage is visible, the purchaser should document the condition of the packaging before disturbing it further, where reasonably possible.

The purchaser must not dispose of packaging where a damage or condition claim may arise.

9. Delivery Problems

If a purchaser believes that an item has been lost, materially damaged or incorrectly delivered, they should contact AR Studios promptly.

AR Studios may investigate the matter using available:

  • delivery records;

  • courier information;

  • production records;

  • packaging records;

  • dispatch records;

  • customer information; and

  • other relevant evidence.

Nothing in this section limits any statutory consumer rights.

10. Cancellation of Online Orders

Where the sale is a distance contract to which the Consumer Contracts Regulations apply, a consumer will generally have a statutory right to cancel within 14 calendar days beginning on the day after the goods are received, unless a statutory exception applies.

Where that statutory cancellation right applies, the purchaser does not ordinarily have to provide a reason.

The purchaser must communicate their cancellation within the applicable cancellation period and return the goods in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.

AR Studios will process any refund required by law within the applicable statutory timeframe.

10.1 Statutory Exceptions

Certain goods are exempt from the statutory cancellation right, including certain goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised. Whether a particular Prints work falls within an exemption depends upon the circumstances of the individual transaction.

AR Studios will not describe a work as exempt merely because it is a limited edition.

The applicable statutory position will govern.

11. Condition of Returned Works

Where a lawful cancellation or return applies, the purchaser must take reasonable care of the work while it is in their possession.

The purchaser must not:

  • alter the work;

  • attempt to repair it;

  • clean or chemically treat it;

  • remove or replace presentation materials;

  • deliberately damage it; or

  • otherwise materially alter its condition.

Where permitted by law, AR Studios may take account of any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

Nothing in this section limits a consumer's statutory rights.

12. No General Commercial Returns Policy

Except where a statutory cancellation or other legal right applies, AR Studios does not operate a discretionary "change of mind" return or exchange programme.

AR Studios is not obliged to accept a return merely because:

  • the purchaser has changed their mind;

  • the purchaser no longer wants the work;

  • the work has subsequently decreased in value;

  • the purchaser has found another work they prefer;

  • the purchaser wishes to release capital; or

  • the purchaser has acquired another edition.

Any discretionary return or commercial settlement offered by AR Studios is entirely separate from, and does not affect, statutory rights.

12.2 Resale & Transfer of an Impression

A purchaser may transfer ownership of an authorised physical impression, subject to the applicable terms of the PRINTS archive.

Where an impression is sold, gifted, inherited or otherwise transferred to another person or entity, the current owner must notify AR Studios and provide the relevant acquisition and provenance information so that the archive's internal ownership record can be updated.

The Certificate of Authenticity must accompany the physical impression upon any authorised transfer and should be retained by the current owner.

AR Studios may decline to verify an impression where the claimed ownership or provenance cannot be reconciled with the archive's records.

13. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Works

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits the purchaser's statutory rights where a work is faulty, damaged, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or otherwise fails to conform to the contract.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, consumers have statutory remedies concerning goods that do not conform to the contract, including rights concerning rejection, repair, replacement, price reduction and refund depending on the circumstances and timing of the claim.

The appropriate remedy will therefore be determined according to the applicable law and the circumstances of the individual case.

14. Damage Claims & Condition Assessment

A purchaser reporting damage or a defect should contact AR Studios promptly and provide sufficient information to allow the matter to be investigated.

AR Studios may request reasonable evidence concerning:

  • the physical work;

  • its presentation;

  • its packaging;

  • its delivery;

  • its COA; and

  • the circumstances in which the alleged damage occurred.

Where reasonably necessary, AR Studios may require the physical work and associated materials to be returned for inspection.

AR Studios may arrange an independent examination by an appropriately qualified conservator, condition-reporting specialist, forensic specialist or other professional.

The purpose of such assessment may include establishing:

  • the physical condition of the work;

  • the nature and extent of any damage;

  • whether the alleged damage is consistent with the circumstances reported;

  • whether the work corresponds with the relevant archive records; and

  • any other matter reasonably relevant to the claim.

15. Digital Evidence & Fraudulent Damage Claims

Photographs or videos supplied by a purchaser are evidence for consideration, not conclusive proof of the physical condition of the work.

AR Studios may consider the complete evidential record when assessing a claim.

Where appropriate, AR Studios may examine supplied digital evidence for indications that it has been materially manipulated, fabricated or otherwise rendered unreliable.

This may include suspected:

  • AI-generated imagery;

  • synthetic alteration;

  • compositing;

  • digitally generated damage;

  • image substitution;

  • manipulation of identifying characteristics; or

  • other material alteration intended to misrepresent the physical condition of the work.

AR Studios does not publish its detailed methods for assessing the authenticity or integrity of digital evidence.

15.1 Physical Inspection

Where circumstances reasonably warrant it, AR Studios may require physical inspection of the actual work before determining a claim.

The existence of a photograph depicting alleged damage does not itself establish that the physical work was damaged, when the damage occurred, or who caused it.

Where necessary, the physical work may be examined independently.

16. False or Fraudulent Claims

A purchaser must not knowingly provide false, fabricated or materially misleading information or evidence in connection with a claim.

This includes knowingly:

  • fabricating damage;

  • submitting materially manipulated evidence as genuine;

  • creating or submitting synthetic imagery purporting to show the condition of the work;

  • substituting another object or photographic work;

  • altering a work and representing the alteration as an original defect;

  • falsely claiming damage occurred during delivery;

  • providing false ownership information;

  • providing false provenance information; or

  • presenting counterfeit documentation as genuine.

Where AR Studios has reasonable grounds to suspect deliberate fraud or material misrepresentation, it may suspend consideration of the claim while appropriate enquiries are undertaken.

Where appropriate, AR Studios may preserve relevant evidence and refer suspected fraudulent conduct to professional advisers, insurers, payment providers, delivery providers, legal representatives, relevant platforms or competent authorities.

Nothing in this section limits a consumer's genuine statutory rights.

17. Counterfeit Works & Documentation

No person may create, commission, sell, distribute or knowingly represent as genuine:

  • a counterfeit Prints impression;

  • a counterfeit COA;

  • a fabricated archive document;

  • a falsified provenance record;

  • a substituted or altered edition;

  • a reproduction falsely represented as an authorised impression; or

  • any other object or document intended to impersonate an authorised Prints work.

AR Studios may decline to authenticate an object where its provenance cannot be satisfactorily established.

The archive may retain confidential information concerning its authentication procedures and is not required to disclose the internal criteria, security characteristics or records used in reaching an authentication decision.

18. Authentication

An authentication enquiry does not automatically result in confirmation.

Where a purported Prints work is presented for authentication, AR Studios may require reasonable information concerning:

  • the purported work;

  • its ownership history;

  • its acquisition;

  • accompanying documentation; and

  • other relevant provenance.

AR Studios may decline to authenticate an object where sufficient information is unavailable or where the archive cannot reconcile the object with its records.

An inability to authenticate an object does not necessarily constitute a finding of fraud.

19. Resale and Change of Ownership

A purchaser may, subject to applicable law, dispose of or transfer their physical impression.

However, because Prints is intended to maintain a long-term provenance record, the purchaser is requested and, where contractually applicable, required to notify AR Studios promptly upon any resale or permanent transfer of ownership.

The notification should provide:

  • the identity of the new owner;

  • the new owner's contact email;

  • the date of transfer;

  • the edition/impression reference where available; and

  • the relevant transaction or provenance information reasonably requested by AR Studios.

The purpose is to maintain the archive's provenance record and assist with future authentication.

A purchaser must not represent to a subsequent buyer that AR Studios has verified or endorsed a transaction unless AR Studios has expressly done so.

For authenticity or provenance enquiries concerning an existing impression, AR Studios may require the current holder to provide the Certificate of Authenticity and sufficient information to establish the claimed chain of ownership.

20. Verification of Resold Works

Where a purported owner or vendor later approaches AR Studios seeking verification, AR Studios may consult its internal provenance records.

Where the claimed ownership history cannot be reasonably reconciled with the archive's records, AR Studios may decline to provide authentication or verification.

AR Studios is not obliged to disclose confidential provenance records, the identity of previous owners or the internal methodology used to assess a provenance claim.

A third party's possession of a physical work or COA does not, by itself, establish that the person is the legitimate owner.

21. No Reproduction Rights Through Resale

Resale of a physical Prints impression does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights.

A subsequent owner acquires the physical impression only.

No owner may reproduce, scan, digitise for reproduction, merchandise, license or commercially exploit the underlying photographic work merely because they own the physical impression.

The archive may maintain internal provenance records identifying the recorded ownership and transfer history of individual authorised impressions. Such records form part of the archive's administrative and provenance framework and are not necessarily publicly accessible.

22. Image Integrity

The physical photographic work must not be materially altered or manipulated and subsequently represented as an original Prints impression.

No authorisation is granted for:

  • AI-generated alterations;

  • synthetic modification;

  • face replacement;

  • compositing;

  • materially changing the subject;

  • materially changing the photographic character;

  • creating derivative portraits;

  • materially manipulating the work for commercial exploitation; or

  • presenting a materially altered reproduction as an original archive photograph.

Nothing in this section restricts a right that cannot lawfully be restricted.

23. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

AR Studios does not grant permission for Prints photographs to be deliberately collected, scraped, aggregated or incorporated into datasets for artificial-intelligence or machine-learning purposes except where a lawful statutory right applies.

This includes deliberate use for:

  • generative AI training;

  • image-generation datasets;

  • model training or fine-tuning;

  • synthetic-media development;

  • facial-recognition datasets;

  • automated image-generation systems; or

  • substantially similar purposes.

AR Studios may employ reasonable technical and legal measures to protect archive imagery against unauthorised extraction and exploitation.

The archive does not publish its detailed technical protection methodology.

24. Digital Identification & Provenance Protection

Prints may use digital identifiers, provenance information, metadata, image-recognition systems, monitoring technologies and other rights-management measures.

These may assist with:

  • identification;

  • provenance;

  • authentication;

  • edition administration;

  • monitoring;

  • infringement detection; and

  • enforcement.

AR Studios does not represent that any particular technical measure will prevent every unauthorised copy or reproduction.

The existence or absence of a visible identifier, metadata or other technical measure does not determine whether copyright exists.

No person may knowingly circumvent or remove a rights-management measure for the purpose of facilitating or concealing unauthorised exploitation.

25. Monitoring & Evidence Preservation

AR Studios may monitor publicly accessible uses of Prints imagery and may preserve evidence of suspected infringement or fraud.

Evidence may include publicly available material, correspondence, screenshots, URLs, digital files, provenance information and other relevant records.

Such information may be retained and disclosed where reasonably necessary for:

  • rights enforcement;

  • authentication;

  • fraud prevention;

  • insurance;

  • legal advice;

  • dispute resolution; or

  • court proceedings.

26. Enforcement

AR Studios takes the protection of Prints seriously.

Where appropriate, suspected infringement, counterfeiting, fraud or unauthorised exploitation may result in:

  1. correspondence with the relevant party;

  2. a formal notice;

  3. a takedown request;

  4. referral to a platform or hosting provider;

  5. referral to insurers or professional advisers;

  6. preservation of evidence;

  7. a claim for payment or damages where legally available;

  8. an application for injunctive relief;

  9. civil proceedings; and/or

  10. any other remedy available under applicable law.

AR Studios does not undertake to provide a warning before taking action where immediate action is reasonably considered necessary.

Depending upon the circumstances, proceedings may be brought in the appropriate court, including the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court or the High Court where jurisdiction permits.

27. Media, Journalism & Institutional Enquiries

The purchase of a physical Prints impression does not grant permission for editorial, commercial or institutional reproduction of the underlying photograph.

Journalists, publishers, broadcasters, documentary producers, galleries, museums and institutions should contact Printswhere permission is legally required.

Any permission granted will be specific to the authorised use and will not automatically extend to:

  • syndication;

  • advertising;

  • social media;

  • merchandise;

  • third-party publication;

  • subsequent editions;

  • promotional campaigns; or

  • other uses.

28. Credit

Where reproduction has been authorised, AR Studios may require the following credit unless alternative wording is specified:

© Ranw Aso-Rashid / Prints

Where appropriate:

From the Prints photographic archive.

29. Payment

An order is subject to successful payment and acceptance by AR Studios.

AR Studios may decline or cancel an order where:

  • payment cannot be verified;

  • payment is reversed or disputed;

  • there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud;

  • information supplied is materially inaccurate; or

  • fulfilment would create a legal or operational difficulty.

Where AR Studios cancels an order for reasons attributable to AR Studios rather than the purchaser, any refund required by law will be processed accordingly.

30. Fraudulent Payment or Chargeback Activity

A purchaser must not knowingly initiate a false payment dispute, chargeback or payment reversal in circumstances where the transaction was properly authorised and the goods were supplied in accordance with the contract.

Where a payment dispute arises, AR Studios may provide the relevant payment provider with appropriate evidence concerning:

  • the order;

  • payment;

  • production;

  • dispatch;

  • delivery;

  • communications;

  • provenance; and

  • fulfilment.

Nothing in this section restricts a consumer's legitimate right to dispute an unauthorised transaction or exercise a statutory right.

31. Privacy & Records

Personal information collected in connection with an acquisition, provenance record, delivery, authentication enquiry, resale notification or dispute will be handled in accordance with AR Studios' applicable privacy policy and data-protection obligations.

Provenance information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to preserve the integrity and administrative history of the archive.

32. No Waiver

Failure by AR Studios to enforce a particular provision on one occasion does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

A discretionary accommodation, settlement or permission granted in one case does not establish a precedent or general entitlement.

33. Changes to the Archive's Procedures

AR Studios may update its administrative, technical, production, provenance, security and rights-management procedures as the archive develops.

Changes to internal procedures do not affect the authenticity or edition status of previously authorised impressions.

34. Applicable Law

These Purchase Terms and any contract for the purchase of a Prints physical impression are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to the purchaser.

The courts of England and Wales shall have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory jurisdictional rights available to consumers under applicable law.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or restrict any statutory right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

35. Entire Agreement

The order confirmation, product information applicable at the time of purchase, these Purchase Terms and any specific written agreement expressly incorporated into the transaction constitute the contractual documentation governing the acquisition.

Where there is a conflict between these terms and a mandatory statutory consumer right, the statutory right prevails.

36. Contact

FINAL NOTICE

A Prints impression is not an ordinary commercial print.

Each authorised impression exists within a permanently limited edition and forms part of a continuing photographic archive.

The physical artwork, its edition status, its Certificate of Authenticity and its provenance are treated as connected elements of that record.

Purchasers are therefore expected to preserve the work and its documentation responsibly.

AR Studios will protect the integrity of the archive against counterfeiting, fraudulent documentation, deliberate misrepresentation, unauthorised reproduction, manipulation and other unlawful exploitation.

At the same time, nothing in these terms removes or restricts any consumer right which the law requires AR Studios to respect.
